MAIK TAYLOR: German born Maik joined Fulham from Southampton for £800,000 in November 1997. A Northern Ireland International, he was spotted playing for Farnborough by former Ray Clemence, then manager of Barnet. Maik joined the North London outfit and quickly earned himself a big reputation under the guidance of the former England goalkeeper. He was later sold to Premiership Southampton. At 6'3" Maik is an imposing figure who commands his area with ease and total confidence. Voted by fans as the 'unsung hero' of the Championship season in 1998/99. Maik is rated as the best taker of a cross in Britain by England manager Kevin Keegan.
CHRIS COLEMAN:A Club record signing after joining us from Blackburn Rovers at the end of November in 1997 for £2.1 million - which has proved to be nothing short of a bargain. Highly dangerous from set pieces and the first name down on anyone's team sheet, Chris has earned the respect and affection of the Cottage faithful with many fabulous defensive displays which played a major part in our success over the last three seasons. Many describe Captain Cookie as the best defender outside the Premiership.
ANDY MELVILLE:Andy joined Fulham from newly promoted Sunderland in the Summer of 1999 on a free transfer under the Bosman ruling. Andy had been offered a new deal at Sunderland but chose to link up with his old pal Paul Bracewell at Fulham instead. He was an ever present in the Sunderland side that romped home to the Championship in division one last term and his presence gives Paul Bracewell another option at the centre of defence. A tough tackling ball winner, Andy has proven a fabulous addition to the squad.
RUFAS BREVETT:Rufus signed from QPR for a fee of £350,000 in January 98' and immediately installed himself as a fans favourite with his crunching tackles and 100% commitment. He made over 150 appearances for our neighbours at Loftus Road in an attacking full back roll and has made the same left wing-back position his own since his arrival at Craven Cottage. Rufus picked up a bad injury toward the end of last season which saw the club bring in Terry Phelan. Now Rufus has some real competition for that left wing/full back role.
STEVE FINNAN:Steve signed for Fulham from Notts County in November 98 for a fee of £600,000. He quickly established himself in the first team and has become a huge hit with fans. A Republic of Ireland International Steve can play in either defence or midfield and has established himself as one of the countries most talented players
LEE CLARK:Lee became the clubs record signing after joining from Sunderland for a fee of £3 million in July 1999. Lee had previously been Sunderland's record signing in the summer of 1997 when he arrived from Newcastle, and immediately won over the fans with typical displays full of 100 per-cent effort and accurate passing. "Clarky" was also awarded the team captaincy in the absence of Kevin Ball and was named in the PFA division one select XI. In his first season at Fulham Lee took a while to find his feet - and the back of the net. However Lee's class came to the fore and three double strikes in the second half of the season meant he finished Fulham's leading goalscorer in the league with 8 goals. A true fans player...
SEAN DAVIS:Sean made his debut under former Fulham manager Micky Adams aged just 17 years and 25 days. A strong tackling, solid midfielder who can pass and keep the ball with a maturity well beyond his years, Sean has progressed even further under the guidance of Jean Tigana and Christian Damiano and is now a first team regular. We hope that Sean will go on to play for England, having already been involved with the U21 squad and if Fulham won promotion to the Premiership he could boast playing for the Whites in all four league divisions.
JOHN COLLINS:John joined Fulham from Everton for an undisclosed fee in July 2000. A close and trusted friend of Jean Tigana, John will no doubt prove a major asset the the Club. He drifted away from a potential rugby career and played for Celtic Boys' Club and Edinburgh's Hutchison Vale before he signing for Hibernian in 1984His career blossomed under Alex Miller and in 1988 Collins made his international debut for Scotland in Saudi Arabia. Two years later he made a high profile move to Celtic and although he wasn't able to help the Bhoys break Rangers stranglehold on the league, he became a genuine star player cementing his place in the international set-up. He won the French League in his first season and enjoyed a successful Champions League campaign the following season when Monaco reached the semi-final stage. Soaking up the flair and style of the French League and progressing under Monaco's rigorous training techniques, Collins made the best possible preparation for the 1998 World Cup and was one of Scotland's best players of the tournament, scoring a memorable penalty against Brazil in the opening match of the tournament.
LOUIS SAHA:Jean Tigana's first signing after joining the Club paying FC Metz £2.1 million pound for his services in June 2000. Tigana describes Saha as the new Thierry Henry and the young Parisian is said to have lighting pace and the ability to match. One to watch this season...
BARRY HAYLES:At £2 million, Barry Hayles was Fulham's second most expensive signing after a shock move from Bristol Rovers in November 1998. A latecomer to the professional game, Barry is Londoner who began his career at Conference side Stevenage. Initially playing as a full-back, Barry switched to attack after a successful up-front outing as a substitute saw him poach two goals for the Conference side in a friendly against Luton. A Player of the Season award, 36 goals, and a Conference League winners medal (League status was denied by an inadequate ground) helped Barry into the professional ranks as he made the journey west to join Bristol Rovers as recently as June 1997. His 26 goals in his first season helped Rovers secure a play-off place and established Barry as one of the best strikers in the second division. Barry has continued scoring goals at a higher level with Fulham.
LUIS BOA MORTE:Luis joins Fulham on loan from Southampton. The energetic forward started his career in England at Arsenal and has made a big impact at Craven Cottage.
KIT SYMONS:Kit signed for Fulham on a free transfer from Manchester City in the Summer of 1998 and immediately installed himself as a regular in the first team with some stunning defensive performances. Probably the nicest surprise of all has been Kit's goalscoring ability and he netted 11 goals during Fulham's promotion campaign from division two. This season Kit has failed to hold down a regular first team place, however he has proved more than reliable whenever called upon.
BJARNE GOLDBAEK:Bjarne signed from Chelsea in January 2000 for a fee of £650,000 (rising to £800,000) depending on certain conditions. His speedy runs down the wing and spectacular goals have quickly made him a fans favourite at Craven Cottage.
SIMON MORGAN:'Mr.Fulham' Simon typifies the never say die attitude at Craven Cottage. Signed by Alan Dicks for £100,000 from Leicester City where he made 160 appearances, scoring 3 goals, 'Morgs' has 2 England under 21 caps to his credit and was appointed club captain in 1992, a status only lost after Paul Bracewell was signed by Ray Wilkins and Kevin Keegan. Simon has clocked up over 400 appearances for Fulham and is the author of the popular book 'On Song For Promotion' after he captained the promotion winning side of 1996-97. Morgs enjoyed a fabulous and well earned testimonial match against Spurs in the summer of 2000. A fans favourite, and its easy to see why.
